How to choose the best Black Friday offers for telephony, internet or television

Telephony, internet or television providers launch a wide range of promotional offers on Black Friday, so it is important that the users should look for thorough information before choosing such an offer. The National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications of Romania (ANCOM) draws the users’ attention to the main issues they should consider in order to find the offer that best fits their communication and consumption needs.
When the users decide to purchase telephony, internet or television subscriptions on Black Friday offers, which may include - for example - equipment such as smartphones, tablets or television sets with a substantial discount, they should check the following details:
  • amount of the monthly subscription that enables purchasing terminal equipment at discount prices or receiving it for free;
  • the exact interval during which the user would benefit from the advertised discounted monthly subscription;
  • whether the service coverage includes their residence area;
  • tariffs: the amount of the monthly subscription, whether this tariff is available for one service only or for a whole bundle of services, the tariff for using/leasing additional equipment (where applicable);
  • the minimum contract period, i.e. the time interval during which a user cannot terminate the contract without paying early termination penalties – limited by law to 12 or 24 months, for telecom contracts.
