Manufacturers of equipment for communications networks get involved in the implementation of "Ro-Alert"

22.09.2017

The working group for the development and implementation of Ro-Alert met again at the headquarters of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) for a series of working sessions. Starting from this meeting, the working group includes specialists of manufacturers of communications networks equipment, their expertise being essential for establishing the technical parameters necessary for the functioning of the emergency alert system.

Thus, the working group consists of representatives of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), of the Special Telecommunications Service (STS), of mobile operators, of network equipment manufacturers and of the communications regulator, ANCOM.

During today's meetings, discussions focused on specific technical and legal issues to be set up so that citizens should be warned about dangers in a timely manner on their mobile phone automatically, without costs.

The system to be implemented will use the "cell broadcast messages" technology, which allows simultaneously transmitting an alert message to all the users of terminals connected to a mobile network, in a particular mobile network coverage area, who have enabled their terminals to receive such messages.
