Personal data processing

Personal data processing

Subscriber directories

Starting from 25 February 2012, when you conclude a contract, you have the possibility to choose whether your personal data should be included in subscriber directories or not (a telephone book, online applications etc.). The contract will specify your identification data that are to be included in the subscriber directories, if you so decide.

Check you contract! If you concluded a contract on 25 February 2012 or after this date and it does not provide a clause regarding your right to opt for/against the inclusion of your personal data in subscriber directories, ANCOM may take steps. Find out how you can submit a complaint. Check the section Complain to ANCOM!

Debtor databases

Usually, by the contracts concluded with their subscribers, the telephony providers reserve the right to relay the subscribers’ data to debt collection companies or to enter them in a debtor database, if the subscribers have outstanding debts (e.g. Preventel).

These situations involve the provider’s manner of handling their subscribers’ personal data.

If you have complaints regarding this aspect, you should address the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing. In order to obtain information regarding the terms for sending a complaint to this institution, go to www.dataprotection.ro, section Complaints.
