Veritel.ro - mobile internet consumption doubled in Romania last year

29.06.2016

The Romanian Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) updated on Veritel.ro – the online application for comparing telecom offers – the consumption values configuring the profile of an occasional, average and intensive mobile telephony and mobile internet user, based on the most recent statistical data processed by the Authority. These data indicate that Romanian users’ mobile internet consumption doubled in the second half of 2015, compared to the first half of the year Infographics regarding Veritel.ro are available here.

Veritel.ro profiles of average, occasional and intensive mobile services users
According to ANCOM’s data, an average user of mobile telephony and internet services configured on Veritel.ro consumes 336 MB mobile internet traffic a month (compared to 167 MB in the previous reporting period), sends 74 national SMS (of which, 62 on-net and 12 off-net) and call – on average - 245 minutes from their own terminal both on-net (177 minutes), and off-net (68 minutes).
An occasional user of mobile telephony and internet services achieves, on average, 112 MB internet traffic (compared to 56 MB in the previous reporting interval), sends 25 national SMS (of which, 21 on-net and 4 off-net) and calls, on average, 81 minutes from their own terminal both on-net (59 minutes), and off-net (22 minutes).
An intensive user of mobile telephony and internet services achieves approximately 1 GB internet traffic (1,008 MB, compared to 501 MB in the previous reporting interval), sends 222 national SMS (of which, 186 on-net and 36 off-net) and calls, on average, 735 minutes from their own terminal both on-net (531 de minutes), and off-net (204 minutes).

Veritel.ro profile of fixed telephony users
Furthermore, www.veritel.ro updated the consumption values for occasional, average and intensive fixed telephony users. According to the statistical data available to ANCOM, an average fixed telephony user calls 45 minutes on-net and 33 minutes off-net, the traffic remaining constant as to the previous reporting period.

Evolution of consumption profiles
“Comparing the consumption profiles of configured users to the previous period’s ones, one can see off-net traffic growth on all mobile telephony segments, correlated with a decrease in on-net traffic, in the context of ANCOM’s regulating the maximum ceiling to be considered for the operators’ mobile termination rates and of the operators’ focus on offers with included national minutes”, declared Eduard Lovin, Executive Director of ANCOM.

These pre-set profiles, based on the statistical data regarding the consumption of electronic communications services in Romania in the second half of 2015, have been fed into Veritel.ro in order to facilitate offer configuration during the users’ search. For a more precise search of the telecom offer that best suits their communication needs, Veritel.ro users may configure their own average monthly consumption, the pre-set profiles being optional.
